Calibre-Web on Synology Docker instance | DB Location is not Valid, Please Enter Correct Path

Hi all,

I have an issue that many have seen already. To be more specific, I can’t get past the basic configuration on my Docker Synology Calibre-Web instance. I get the infamous DB Location is not Valid, Please Enter Correct Path. I know that most often the issue for people is that they don’t have an existing calibre database. I do, yet I still can’t get to work. Any help is really appreciated.

Here are the details.

I have deployed the app via docker-cli (ran by root), here is the script:

docker run -d --name=calibre-web \
-p 8083:8083 \
-e PUID=1026 \
-e PGID=100 \
-e TZ=America/New_York \
-e DOCKER_MODS=linuxserver/calibre-web:calibre \
-e OAUTHLIB_RELAX_TOKEN_SCOPE=1 \
-v /volume1/docker/calibreweb:/config \
-v /volume1/CloudStorage/Dropbox/Apps/calibre:/books \
--restart always \
ghcr.io/linuxserver/calibre-web

To prove to you that I have a database existing, here is the image:

When I run docker exec -it calibre-web ls -la here is what I get:

As you can see the config folder was attached, but the books folder did not. Does anyone have an idea what I am doing wrong?

Thanks a ton in advance.

can you ls -la /volume1/CloudStorage/Dropbox/Apps/calibre

your screenshot shows it as /CloudStorage/Dropbox/Apps/calibre

The screenshot was from the UI. There the volume is not displayed.

ok, good, just gotta make sure

in that case uh can you pastebin docker logs -f calibre-web it will begin with our ascii logo. It looks like you did things right, but clearly there’s an issue here.

Sorry for not responding straight away, I had an issue with my laptop, had to send it back to the employer.

I hate to paste the whole log, since it is a lot of text, but I’m afraid that if I try to pinpoint the errors, I might miss something important. Thanks for your help!

hm aside from that gdrive thing, it looks normal to me. It may be best for you to come into discord for some live support. I’ve never personally had this issue, but we only have 1 team member that does any synology testing.

im sure someone will be able to assist you. I’m out of ideas though.

Thanks @driz for trying to help. I’ll make sure to ask in the discord server. If something helps, then will post here.

Just had a look at this, only thing that jumped out at me is the GUID. 100 is the default in Unraid, I have no idea what the situation is on Synology, but it might be worth confirming that is the correct GUID for the UID you’re using.

Try running the command

id -G 1026

which should return the groups of which 1026 is a member.

I figured out what the issue was… My first deploy was via a task scheduler and there was an error in the configuration. When I fixed the command I tried running it via task scheduler again, and it failed without telling me.

When I SSHed into my NAS I tried running docker run it told me what the error was… I needed to remove the old container and restart it. Once I did that, everything mounted correctly.

Thanks for the help all!
