Plex error: Playback terminated. Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error

I’ve been having this problem with Plex for a while now.

From time to time, especially when rewinding a movie or when the end credits are already flying, the Plex client displays a message: Playback terminated. Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error.

This happens on LG WebOS as well as on Chrome.

Once it happens once, it then happens all the time for the same video. A long wait or restarting the server helps.

Most of the time everything is fine. I can watch entire movie or a few episodes, but when this problem eventually occurs after watching several episodes of a series (in the same format), it is really annoying.

Plex version: 1.32.3.7192, Plex Pass
OS: Ubuntu Server 22.04.2 LTS
Hardware: Dell Wyse 5070 with Intel GPU

I get the same issue with the LG and Web players, Android and Windows apps work fine though.

As soon as the credit detection kicks in it errors out the Direct Play.

I would also say that this issue started to occur once Plex introduced credits detection. I will try to turn it off as I don’t see any actual benefit of having this feature.
