[Request] Motion+MotionEye - Video surveillance

Hi,

I’m using a lot of linuxserver.io dockers and I’m very happy with it. However, I wanted to use Motion/MotionEye for my baby and surveillance cams - but can only find pretty old dockers for it. Motion is used for detection and alarming in video streams - so webcam or network attached cameras. The old dockers have very decent download rates - so I guess there is a need for a trusted and updated Motion/MotionEye container.

If I’m on wrong track and there already is a different or even cooler solution for that - just let me know

Thank you in advance,

Rene

I am actually in the same boat (My first born is due in a few days!), so I have been on the lookout for a sweet baby cam. I bought some Reolink cameras, PVLAN’ed them off from the internet with a Cisco POE switch and allowed them access to my NVR. I also use TailScale with a Subnet router to allow things into my network.

I used to use MotionEye, but it was my understanding that it was abandoned, but it looks like it was taken over by a new development team, so that is cool! I cannot speak to the request of LSIO containerizing MotionEye, but I will say I opted to purchase DW Spectrum (which has been a fantastic NVR and streaming solution!) - There is a one time cost per-camera, but I found it to be amazing and many folks on Reddit tend to have a similar opinion.

If paying is out of the question, and you wanna check out a few alternatives to MotionEye, you might check out the following!

https://shinobi.video/ - Seems to be a decent opensource NVR
https://zoneminder.com/ - I think Frigate may be based on this?
frigate[.]video/ - Some cool AI Tagging!

Anyways, good luck with the baby, and happy hunting!
