VPN router breaking DuckDNS

Having an issue with the DuckDNS image. I have a VPN router on my home network that I also host some personal docker containers on, and I’m having trouble keeping these containers remotely accessible with DuckDNS.
When I have the VPN on at home, DuckDNS updates my subdomain’s IP to be the VPN server’s address which then breaks my access to my containers at home. How can I have the DuckDNS container track the actual IP of my home network, while keeping my apartment home network behind a VPN? I thought about moving my server to sit in front of the VPN router, but there isn’t enough space to store it where the ISP’s wires come into my apartment.
